Jesus calls us to make the world a loving place.  This is a daunting task for any individual to face.  We need to tackle this challenge in community, as a community.  There are many opportunities to engage in acts of love everyday.  At the same time, we need to work creatively together to challenge and change the systemic barriers to love within our society.  Some will bind the wounds of travelers in the road, others will change the roads themselves.

Getting Started In The World

On The Road In The World

A Slow Walk is actively involved in a number of initiatives and organisations that are making love real in the world.

  • Anti-Bias Workshops – A Slow Walk conducts workshops focused on helping us discover and deal with the prejudices that occur in our daily lives.  In some instances we are the victims, but in many cases we are the perpetrators.
  • Ikamva Youth  – IkamvaYouth is a by-youth, for-youth non-profit organisation that enables South African youth to get themselves out of poverty and into university or employment.
  • Siyakhula Education Foundation –Siyakhula is a community-based non-profit organisation serving the impoverished and densely populated communities of Ebony and Ivory Park in Midrand, Johannesburg.
  • Gun Free SA – Gun Free is helping to build a South Africa where there will be no need for anyone to own or carry a firearm.
